Shany Kirshner

Ms. Kirshner practices exclusively in matrimonial and family law including: divorce, child custody and visitation, relocation, child support, spousal support, family offense proceedings, post-divorce enforcement, and the negotiation of separation agreements. Prior to joining the Pickney Law Firm, Ms. Kirshner practiced matrimonial and family law for over six years on Long Island.

Ms. Kirshner approaches the issues confronting her clients passionately and creatively, with a reputation for being a zealous advocate of her clients’ rights. She is committed to ensuring the client’s interests are placed at the forefront of all her decisions. Ms. Kirshner handles cases in Nassau County, Suffolk County and the Five Boroughs of New York City.

Ms. Kirshner also works closely with our founder, Mr. Pickney, on complex divorce litigation. Mr. Pickney has represented senior executives, real estate developers, lawyers, business owners and members of many of New York’s prominent families.

Ms. Kirshner, a native Hebrew speaker, has extensive experience representing various members of the Orthodox Jewish community. Her knowledge of the unique issues confronting members of the community going through a divorce, including religious observance, Yeshiva education and parenting time for observed holidays, brings a skill set of immense value to her clients who are members of the Jewish community.

During law school, Ms. Kirshner served as a Legal Extern with the Honorable Jeffrey A. Goodstein, Supervising Judge of the Matrimonial Part of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Nassau County, a Legal Intern for current Support Magistrate Nadine Satterthwaite, Family Court, State of New York, Nassau County, and as a Legal Intern in a boutique law firm located in Garden City focusing on Matrimonial Law.

Ms. Kirshner graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and a Juris Doctorate from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. While at Hofstra Law, Ms. Kirshner was the President of the Public Justice Foundation and an active member of the Dispute Resolution Society. Additionally, Ms. Kirshner was a member of the International Business & Law Journal serving as Notes and Comments editor. Her article, “Selling a Miracle? Surrogacy Through International Borders: Exploration of Ukrainian Surrogacy,” was published in Volume 14 of the International Business & Law Journal.

Ms. Kirshner is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial Law Committee.
